About Scott Brown

The Full Story

In 1963, my parents bought a house in Chambers Heights at 6th and Dearborn. I attended Elkhart Elementary School and East Junior High School. The Chambers Heights neighborhood was considered south Aurora, and growing up there was great! With wide open spaces spanning from the south to the east; plenty of room to roam. I was able to ride my bike (without concern for my safety) to Hoffman Park to participate in youth sports. I played football for the then-Aurora Shamrocks and moved over to the Aurora Cardinals. They practiced and played on the fields at East Junior High, which was a lot closer to my house.

We moved south in 1974 where my parents bought a townhome in Heather Ridge on the 16th fairway. There I taught myself to play golf, I still love the game. I attended Smoky Hill High School where I met my wife of 43 years.  I was very active in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) in auto mechanics. I am part of the graduating class of 1978.

My wife and I bought our first home in Aurora; a small townhome on Louisiana Street, just east of Peoria Street. We lived there until we were able to buy a house with a yard in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood.  We stayed there until we were able to find a home moving us back to Arapahoe County in 1993. We still live in that same house to this day.

My wife and I have made memories raising our two boys here. They both attended local schools and are graduates of Smoky Hill High School. They both choose to raise their families in Arapahoe County.

I attended Emily Griffith Opportunity School from 1978 until 1981 where I received my Airframe and Powerplant certificate in Aviation Mechanics. I started my career with Frontier Airlines in 1980 while finishing school and continued to work there as a mechanic until 1985. I was offered and accepted a job in late 1985 to work in Denver for United Airlines where I continue to work.

I have seen Arapahoe County grow over the years; some good, and some not as good. I have seen areas in the county that continue to get better and areas that seem to be overlooked, opening opportunities for growth and revitalization.
